Our facility is located in Überruhr Hinsel. The “Kevelohstraße” bus stop for lines 166 and 177 is in the immediate vicinity. There are plenty of parking spaces on both sides of the street on Überruhrstrasse.
We are a Protestant child day care facility run by the Diakoniewerk Essen. We are a partially open house in Essen Überruhr and look after 73 children aged four months until they start school. There is a generous amount of space available for the children. Our partially open concept offers the children an optimal opportunity for self-education.
The rooms and their furnishings provide children aged between 0.4 months and six years with orientation and security.
There are various functional rooms available for the children. The youngest children have access to a group room with an adjoining room and a bedroom, as well as a sanitary area with changing facilities and a paddling area. The selection of materials in all rooms is designed so that the children can have experiences in all sensory areas and pursue their urge to explore. Age-appropriate play materials are made freely available to the children. This also includes natural materials, but also “usual household” equipment, such as wooden cooking spoons, plastic bowls, small cooking pots and much more. The materials are arranged in an attractive manner and are therefore easy for the children to reach.
Each child has their own place to sleep in the bedrooms. On a cozy shared sleeping and resting area, the children can show each other their affection, calm down with physical closeness and find peace together. Therefore, the children should be able to choose between a “communal camp” or individual sleeping space, e.g. a sleeping basket or cave.
The washing and changing areas are equipped with toilets and sinks suitable for small children. The physical care and changing of children requires a calm, trusting atmosphere in which the child and his caregiver can remain as undisturbed as possible.
Through a variety of offerings in the multi-purpose hall (exercise room), the children should perceive their environment with all their senses. The movement space encourages children to act actively and allows them to further develop their basic motor skills. We offer space for large-scale movement through: Different play levels with different surfaces, e.g. smooth wood, flat or high-pile carpet Opportunities for crawling, crawling, climbing
From the building you can access the outdoor area of the facility, where there are climbing and play options suitable for both U3 and Ü3, such as a climbing frame, a mud area, three sandpits, an outdoor slide, a hammock, beds for planting, and for the Vehicles and play materials suitable for outdoor use. The daycare center area is adjacent to a playground, which we use often. There are other playgrounds nearby, the Ludwig Kessing Park, the Antrop Park and the Ruhr. This makes it possible for children to experience, explore, experience and enjoy natural and exercise spaces.

In the afternoon the children are offered a snack (fruit, raw vegetables, yoghurt,...).
We pay attention to a healthy and balanced diet. Dietary specifics are taken into account.
In our facility, the children should experience a place of security where they can take advantage of the opportunity to be designers of their own development. In the community with other children, they are encouraged to accept themselves and others and to respect the coexistence of people with diverse cultures, religions and denominations. The Protestant daycare center Arche Noah practices an open concept, which offers the children an optimal opportunity for self-education. It is assumed that children are active actors in their individual and social environment who are capable of their own conflict and ability to act. The children's wishes and ideas are perceived by the educational professionals and the children are accepted and respected as their own personalities with individual development needs and interests, because every child has the right to fail and to start over. In our daily work we are promoters of education, protectors and comforters of children. We provide impulses and suggestions, are conversation partners, support the children holistically with all their senses, convey religious values, educate the children to be independent and give them the necessary limits. The pedagogical approach practiced in our “Noah's Ark” daycare center is the situational approach, which is linked through open work and in this way gives the children an optimal opportunity for self-education. Thanks to the different functional rooms, the children have numerous choices and can pursue their own interests and wishes bring into the activities. The children's wishes and ideas are taken seriously by the teaching staff and the children are seen as independent personalities. The educational work in the “Noah’s Ark” daycare center is therefore holistic and covers all educational areas of the educational agreement. We pay particular attention to “movement” Like play and language, movement is an elementary need and means of expression for the child. Movement has one of the most important meanings in development and is a key element in the sense of holistic support.
Our Staff consists of Educators und Nursery Nurses. In addition to our trainees, interns from various types of schools also support us several times a year to gain an insight into our work. A kitchen and cleaning staff supports us in everyday life.

The Diakoniewerk Essen, with its services, facilities and administration, has a tried and tested quality management system with quality circles and coordinated procedures. Under the direction of our dedicated quality management department, the aim of our system, which is implemented in accordance with the international DIN EN ISO 9000 ff, is to achieve continuous improvement of the processes from the customer's perspective - here from the perspective of the child, the parents as well as the payers and supervisory authorities. In the daycare sector, our leadership, core and support processes are based on the requirements of the Federal Framework Manual for the Evangelical Seal of Quality BETA and the Diakonie Seal KiTa. The provider and its facilities rely on professional advice and support from its specialist advisors for daycare centers.
The “Arche Noah” daycare center sees itself as part of the network of the Diakonie, community and Protestant church in Essen. Diakoniewerk Essen is a recognized provider of independent welfare services in Essen. Under the motto "Shaping life together", it provides numerous specialist and regular services, as well as day-care and inpatient facilities for child, youth and family welfare, assistance for the disabled, assistance for those at risk, assistance for the elderly and the sick, as well as training and employment promotion. If necessary, all of these resources can be accessed quickly and unbureaucratically from a single source. At the neighborhood and district level, our daycare center cooperates with all relevant actors and partners such as our Protestant parish in Überruhr, the local elementary schools Hinseler Schule and the Überruhr Community Elementary School, the educational advice center, the health department, the various services of the youth welfare office, the fire department, the police and much more. We see ourselves as a family-complementing and supporting institution. Collaboration with parents is very important to us. The basis of the desired educational partnership between the daycare center and the legal guardian is a cooperative and trusting collaboration. The competent specialist staff advises the legal guardians on important questions regarding the education, upbringing and care of the child, with the aim of developing a common pedagogical understanding. We view those with legal guardianship as equal partners and take their concerns seriously. Holistic support for the child is only possible if the daycare center and the legal guardians cooperate with each other and work on common goals. The prerequisite for this is that everyone involved feels equally comfortable.
Our facility works closely with the Evangelical Church Community of Essen-Überruhr. The parish priest comes to the facility at regular intervals for catechesis with the children.
All children in the last year of kindergarten participate in finding projects, trips and excursions with their own ideas and wishes and thus participate in the organization of the last year of kindergarten.
We cooperate with Sport Projects Ruhrgebiet GmbH and offer “ball school” in our rooms for all children every Tuesday.
In the "Arche Noah" daycare center, as in all Diakoniewerk Essen daycare centers, customer satisfaction is determined regularly (every two years) - including through anonymized parent surveys. The results are communicated in detail with the parents and are available in the facility. They serve to be systematically incorporated into the continuous improvement process of the quality development of our daycare centers and the provider.
