Introduction/specifics

We are the Evangelical daycare center on Mathilde-Kaiser-Strasse. Our sponsor has been the Ev. since August 1st, 2023. Essen Daycare Center Association. We have been a family center in conjunction with the Kita Friede since 2009.

Under the motto “Becoming strong together”, we welcome everyone:Children, families and educators. Everyone is a part of the whole. We want to accompany children and their families sensitively, enter into educational partnerships and support where support is needed.

For us, education and upbringing are not static, but rather a continuous process. It is therefore important to reflect on and continually develop our pedagogical approach.

As a Protestant institution, we live a Protestant profile.

By Protestant we mean: appreciation of the uniqueness of every person, acceptance and respect.

Outdoor Facilities

Our outdoor area is diverse and invites you to play and exercise.

Two large sandpits, a climbing tower with a climbing wall, a slide as well as a wobbly bridge, balancing tree trunks and rings invite you to enjoy a wide range of exercise options. In the mud area you can experiment with water and sand, especially on hot days. Paved areas offer the opportunity to use children's vehicles, e.g. balance bikes, swing cars, scooters, stilts, pedalos, double taxis, Ben Hur cars, delivery taxis.

In the middle there are flower beds for planting activities with children and two small apple trees. Children can also paint, do crafts and look at books outdoors at wooden tables and benches.

Our outdoor area offers many shady places, especially on warm and sunny days, as there are large trees on the site. This means the children can experience nature up close. The squirrels flit across the grounds and can be seen looking for food and the woodpecker also stops by the daycare center and the many robins sing in the trees or build their nests in the attached nesting boxes.

Food

The children bring their breakfast from home. We serve water and milk for breakfast. The children have the opportunity to start with breakfast after entering the group room.

Drinks are available to children at any time. You can choose between carbonated and non-carbonated water. The children have the opportunity to fill their own bottles with water at the water vending machine.

In our facility we cook freshly and there is enough fresh fruit and vegetables every day. Here we pay attention to seasonal goods. Of course, cultural and religious backgrounds such as no beef or pork as well as dietary requirements such as allergies to certain foods are taken into account.

Our food costs amount to €82.00 per month.

Basics

The focus of our educational work is the child and his or her needs and interests. We offer the children a stimulating environment and reliable relationships and see ourselves as companions and observers. This means recognizing the children's needs, listening to them and setting out together to support them in their self-learning processes.

In our educational work we use a situation-oriented approach. The aim of our educational work is for the children to develop self-confidence, independence and an individual personality.

Employee

Our team is made up of qualified educational staff:

13 pedagogical specialists (including one U3 specialist and one specialist for early childhood education)

1 trainee (educator)

Additional Offerings

Our daycare center has been certified as a family center since 2009. Through our cooperation with Caritas, we offer parenting and family advice.

Quality Assurance

We regularly reflect on our educational work in team meetings. In addition, team coaching takes place at least 3 times a year.

The concept of the facility is reviewed and adjusted every 2 years.

The families have the opportunity to give positive feedback, but also to criticize. A mailbox for anonymous complaints is also available to families.

Teamwork with parents

To give parents an insight into our work, we offer information such as themed afternoons at group level. In individual discussions between parents and the responsible specialists, we discuss the level of development of their children. It is important to us to make our work with children transparent and comprehensible for parents through documentation. The parent council is re-elected every kindergarten year. Parents' council, employees and sponsor representatives together form the council of the day care center for children. Twice a year parents receive a schedule overview in the form of an information sheet. Traditionally, Easter, Christmas and lantern making with parents and children takes place in our facility.

The facility has a support association. Proceeds from campaigns such as the children's clothing exchange benefit the children at the daycare center.
