My name is Svenja Brandt. I was born on February 5, 1992, and live in Essen. I have been a qualified childminder since June 2019. I really enjoy working with children, which is why I decided to become a self-employed childminder. With me, your children will receive child-friendly support and warm care in their development. I look after a small group of five children aged 0-3. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, cycling, and cooking.
The children are cared for in rented premises. The premises are child-safe and child-friendly, and have been inspected and tested. The children's dreams are spread across a well-proportioned 67 square meters. A large playroom where the children can run around freely :) Plenty of play activities is provided. A quiet, cozy bedroom where the children can take a restful nap. The apartment has a separate kitchen and a bathroom.
Playgrounds are located in the immediate vicinity. The beautiful Revierpark is also within easy walking distance.

The children receive breakfast, lunch, and a small snack of fruit or vegetables. I provide the meals. I cook fresh, healthy, and varied meals for the children every day. I emphasize a balanced diet, as this is important for children's development. Drinks are available to the children at all times. I offer them water or unsweetened tea. Allergies or food intolerances can be accommodated upon request. No pork.
During their stay in my daycare, I support and encourage the children in their development. I teach the children to be independent, for example, when dressing and undressing by themselves. I only offer assistance when necessary. They should pursue their own activity and their curiosity so that they can gain experience and acquire knowledge. They practice their gross and fine motor skills creatively and playfully. Language development is also very important to me. Children learn language through singing and dancing, and experience is gained through words like fast, slow, high, and low. Physical activities such as dancing are also part of this. Quote (Language builds on action - Renate Zimmermann). Playing together and looking at picture books can also encourage children and help them in their development. I offer the children many opportunities to gain their own experiences. That's why I place a lot of emphasis on free play in my daycare. The children are allowed to decide for themselves what they want to play with. I provide the children with suitable play materials with which they can learn about different colors, shapes and numbers.
Because the safety of children is very important to me, I regularly attend first aid courses for childminders. I attend at least twelve hours of continuing education for childminders per year and receive professional support from the Diakoniewerk Essen. I have a foster care permit from the Essen Youth Welfare Office.
I regularly participate in peer consultations with other childminders to exchange ideas.
Good cooperation with parents is important to me. The basic prerequisite for a trusting relationship between parents and the childcare provider is keeping the work open and transparent. Parents' evenings are also held regularly. There would be time for brief conversations during drop-off and pick-up times. For a longer conversation, an appointment will, of course, be scheduled.
Maximum representation by the Diakoniewerk’s professional association, even in case of illness.
