Introduction/specifics

The Kita Brassertstrasse has been a certified family center since summer 2015. We currently offer places for 107 children from the age of two until they start school. 16 children under the age of three and 91 children over the age of three are cared for in five groups. Children from different nations visit our daycare center. Especially in times of increasing uncertainty about being different, we want to create an everyday kindergarten life with our children that is characterized by respect and tolerance. Furthermore, we would like to organize kindergarten time in such a way that the children can make positive social contacts. In this positive atmosphere, we will encourage and challenge your child according to their strengths. We see it as a central task to be interested in the respective family situations and educational biographies right from the start. It is important for employees to reflect on their own learning experiences and their own attitude towards children and their families in order not to succumb to their own projections. It is of central importance to us to accept and respect the children with their strengths, weaknesses, peculiarities and special features.

Rooms

Our daycare center is a two-story building with an adjacent former granny flat on the ground floor. The three 2-6 year old groups are housed on the ground floor, two further kindergarten groups are on the upper floor. The rooms offer the opportunity to be designed and changed according to the needs of the children and to offer materials that encourage them to act actively. A “learning workshop” on the upper floor invites you to play and do activities across groups. In addition to the group rooms, side rooms and bedrooms, our daycare center has various other functional rooms, such as a large exercise room. The differentiated room concept takes into account the children's needs for movement, creativity, peace, relaxation, etc.

Of course, there are sanitary areas for each group in the daycare center.

There is also a kitchen on both floors for preparing lunch.

Outdoor Facilities

Our daycare center has a spacious outdoor area as well as a small inner courtyard, which offers a protected play area, especially for the younger children. Through differentiated play and climbing frames, swings and child-friendly vehicles, children of all age groups are constantly encouraged to move. Sandpits and a watercourse offer the opportunity to play in the mud and round off our play options. Our children can use all their senses to explore and explore the area at any time of the year. It is also possible to use the adjacent playground on Hedwigstrasse.

Daily Schedule

The individual greeting of each child and their legal guardian is very important to us and ensures a brief exchange of information as well as a transition between family and daycare.

From 7:00 a.m. to around 9:30 a.m./10:00 a.m., the children can eat the breakfast they have brought with them at a nicely set table. Play situations arise throughout the day based on the children's interests/wishes and free play. They also receive impulses through guided pedagogical suggestions from the specialists. Rituals such as a common morning group or story group, birthday parties, toy days, group interests such as a forest group, playing in the outdoor area, exploring the district and more determine day-to-day daycare in the morning and afternoon.

Each group organizes their everyday group life individually and according to their age. From 11:30 a.m. (groups 2-6 years) and 12 p.m. (groups 3-6 years) we serve a warm lunch prepared by our chef. Rest and sleeping options are offered after meals and discussed with the children, their legal guardians and the educational staff as required.

The pick-up time starts at 3 p.m. for the 35 hour care and ends at 4/5 p.m. for the day children.

Food

An important part of our educational work is the children eating together. For us, this means more than just being full. The children sit together at a table, enjoy, have table conversations and exchange ideas. Food appeals to the body and the senses equally. In our daily work with children, the topic of nutrition offers a very good opportunity to combine health and education. Basically, we would like all children to take part in a shared lunch. Depending on your wishes, we can also offer you a childcare place without lunch. It goes without saying that your child can drink drinks at any time.

In our daycare center, the shared food for the children and employees is freshly prepared by a chef every day.

Breakfast: From Monday to Thursday, the children bring their own breakfast. On Fridays we offer a sliding, group-wide breakfast in our "Children's Cafe". This is designed and accompanied by appropriate educational staff in a loving and varied way. Parents are also welcome to take part in this breakfast together with their child/children. The children decide individually whether you want to eat breakfast in the “Kinder Café” or in a group.

We have an afternoon snack every day in the form of fruit, raw vegetables, crispbread, etc. enough.

Of course, the menu takes into account intercultural requirements as well as children's allergies and food intolerances.

Your child's development will be regularly documented until you move to school (documentation forms), This also includes your child’s language development. Annual discussions with parents about the child's individual level of development take place in order to jointly support the child's educational path. In order to meet the requirements and tasks of daily work, employees regularly take part in further training.

Teamwork with parents

Parents and educational professionals are partners who are in dialogue and not in competition with one another. In this collaboration we would like to focus on the resources and strengths of parents. It is important to us to regularly inform parents about our work through: - personal conversations
